JUICY GOURMET ELK BURGERS

Let me guess, you have a freezer full of elk and you want a new way to cook it, right?

No worries, I got you covered!

First, you'll need

ground venison • salt • black pepper • paprika powder • sumac powder • cayenne  • ground cloves • minced parsley • minced red onion

Do the ingredients surprise you? I was planning on making kabobs but couldn't find my skewers. It morphed into a burger recipe instead!

Did you know elk fits into the category of venison? It's true!

– Defrost elk meat, if frozen. Add to a medium-sized bowl, along with all the spices, minced parsley, and onion.

STEP 1

– Work all the ingredients together until blended. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least a couple of hours.

STEP 2

– Loosely form the elk meat into four burgers.

STEP 3

– Grill burgers over medium flame for 4 minutes. Flip and cook for 3 additional minutes.

STEP 4

— Add a slice of cheddar cheese and cook one minute longer.

This recipe yields a medium burger. For a rare burger, reduce cooking time.

Because of  the unique ingredients in this recipe, I don't recommend the usual ketchup and mustard with these elk burgers.

Instead, I would pick from the following: mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles.

Enjoy!!!

To keep the Mediterranean theme going, serve these gourmet burgers with any of the following...

SUMAC ONIONS
