- ⅔ cups tahini paste
- 3 tablespoon cold water (or as needed)
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves crushed garlic
- ¾ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon cumin powder (optional)
- 2 tablespoon chopped Italian parsley (garnish, optional)
Start by adding tahini paste, lemon juice, olive oil, sesame seed oil, garlic, salt, cumin, and cayenne pepper (if using) to a food processor or a blender. Blend until the ingredients are incorporated and smooth.
Add water, a little at a time, and blend until you have achieved the desired consistency. Taste the sauce to see if the seasoning needs to be adjusted. Pour into a mason jar and store in the refrigerator.
- To thin the sauce, increase the amount of water until you achieve the consistency you're after.
- If you prefer tahini sauce smoother, you can run it through a fine mesh strainer before pouring it into the jar for storage.
- Tahini Sauce needs to be stored in the fridge and used within a few weeks.
