Garlic Tahini Sauce

Garlic tahini sauce is easy to prepare and goes great with falafel, shawarma, pita and so much more!

Ingredients

  • cups tahini paste
  • 3 tablespoon cold water (or as needed)
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves crushed garlic
  • ¾ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin powder (optional)
  • 2 tablespoon chopped Italian parsley (garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Start by adding tahini paste, lemon juice, olive oil, sesame seed oil, garlic, salt, cumin, and cayenne pepper (if using) to a food processor or a blender. Blend until the ingredients are incorporated and smooth.
  • Add water, a little at a time, and blend until you have achieved the desired consistency. Taste the sauce to see if the seasoning needs to be adjusted. Pour into a mason jar and store in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • To thin the sauce, increase the amount of water until you achieve the consistency you're after.
  • If you prefer tahini sauce smoother, you can run it through a fine mesh strainer before pouring it into the jar for storage.
  • Tahini Sauce needs to be stored in the fridge and used within a few weeks.
