This homemade turkey rub recipe is the last rub you'll need to make a delicious and flavorful turkey this Thanksgiving. It's also easily customizable, and can be used to season chicken, beef, and pork!
Measure out all of the herbs and spices, then mix in a small bowl.
Use paper towels to dry the skin of the turkey, then generously sprinkle turkey spice rub all over your turkey. I like to use 1 ½ teaspoons of turkey rub per pound. Allow the rub to do its magic for a few hours or overnight before cooking your turkey.
Spoon leftover seasoning into a spice bottle and store for up to 3 months in the pantry or a spice rack.
Notes
If you have a mortar and pestle you can use it to mix the seasoning and incorporate the flavors.
Use a spoon to sprinkle the turkey rub over the turkey instead of using your hands to avoid cross contamination.
This turkey seasoning recipe makes a little over 5 tablespoons of turkey rub which is enough to season a 10 pound turkey.
If cooking a larger turkey, you can easily make a double batch of this seasoning.
Store extra spice mixture in an airtight container and store up to 6 months.
You can also freeze this rub for up to a year.
To make a wet rub, mix turkey rub with mustard, olive oil, or honey and slather on poultry.
