1cuplemon juice(4-6 lemons freshly squeezed, plus zest of 1 lemon)
4 to 5cupscold water
2cupsice
Instructions
Prepare lavender syrup according to the linked lavender syrup recipe.
Juice enough lemons to get 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Zest a few of the lemons, then mix both with cold water. Sweeten with lavender syrup. Start with ½ cup of syrup and adjust to your preference. Serve over ice.
Notes
If you don't grow your own lavender as I do, be sure to purchase culinary lavender.
Add the lavender syrup gradually. Start with less, taste, then add more until you reach your preferred balance of sweet, tart, and floral.
Chill your lavender lemonade before serving. The flavors meld and mellow once the lemonade has had time to get thoroughly cold. Add ice just before serving so it doesn't become diluted.
Lavender syrup often turns out pale amber rather than purple. A few blueberries can add natural color without dramatically changing the flavor.
Replace some or all of the cold water in your lavender lemonade with sparkling water or club soda, adding it just before serving to keep the fizz.
