Add brown sugar and butter to a small saucepan. Mix over low heat until the butter melts and blends with the brown sugar, approximately two minutes.
Add half and half and continue to whisk over medium heat for five additional minutes.
Add vanilla and sea salt and whisk for two more minutes. Cool before transferring to an 8 oz jar.
Notes
Caramel Sauce can be made in various ways. The liquids used include water, heavy cream, half and half, milk, evaporated milk, or a combination of some of these.
Sweeteners include brown sugar or white granulated sugar.
Salt may or may not be added.
Cornstarch is sometimes used as a thickening agent.
