    frozen chicken wings

These crispy shawarma air fryer frozen chicken wings are ready in 30 minutes from the freezer to your plate! Use my flavorful shawarma spice blend or any seasoning you'd like. Air fryer chicken wings are the ultimate appetizer for New Year’s Eve or anytime you want a quick meal!

Have you ever wondered if you can air fry frozen chicken wings straight out of the freezer? The answer is yes, you can!

Sometimes you need a last-minute dinner idea or an easy appetizer for when unexpected company arrives. That's where these tasty air fryer wings come in!

Yes, they would probably be even better if you defrosted the wings first. But, if you are in a bind and don't have an hour to wait for the chicken wings to defrost, it's good to know that you can air fry frozen wings!

The shawarma seasoning gives the wings a wonderful, slightly spicy flavor but you can also keep the seasoning as simple as salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

    🧐 Why This Recipe Works

    • Air fryer chicken wings make a great low-carb/keto meal, appetizer, or snack.
    • This is a great recipe when thawing the wings is not an option. You can air fry the wings straight out of the freezer!
    • We already know that shawarma chicken is delicious, so why not use the same spices on chicken wings too?

🛒 What You Need For This Recipe

    🔖 Recipe Ingredients And Substitutions

    • Chicken Wings: You'll need 1-1 ½ pounds of unseasoned bone-in or boneless chicken wings.
    • Seasoning: In this recipe, I used my own shawarma seasoning which can be purchased on my Etsy shop, but you can also make the spice blend using my easy recipe. However, feel free to use your favorite seasoning.
    • Oil: You can use oil to lightly spray the air fryer basket and to mist the wings before you season them.

🍗 How to Make Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Wings

Step 1: Heat the air fryer to 390 degrees F. Rinse frozen wings to remove any frost and pat dry. Add wings to the air fryer basket and air fry for 15 minutes.

Pro Tip: If you are worried about the chicken wings sticking to the tray, you can spray the tray with olive oil or non-stick cooking spray. I've tried it both ways and didn't notice much of a difference.

Step 2: Separate the wings then generously season them on both sides with shawarma seasoning.

Pro Tip: If you'd like, you can spray the wings with a light coating of oil before you season them.

Step 3: Air fry the wings in a single layer for 8 minutes then flip and air fry for an additional 7 minutes or until the wings are golden and crispy. Garnish with chopped Italian parsley, scallions, or cilantro and your favorite dipping sauce.

    🤷🏻‍♀️ FAQs

What side dishes go with chicken wings?

Chicken wings make a great, low-carb, high-protein meal, but what can you serve them with? How about a healthy salad, chopped fresh veggies, or crispy french fries?

How long do you cook frozen wings in a Ninja Foodi air fryer?

It takes anywhere from 25-30 minutes (depending on how crispy you like them) to cook frozen chicken wings in a Ninja Foodi air fryer.

How long does it take to cook chicken wings in an air fryer?

Defrosted chicken wings take right around 20 minutes to cook in a 390°F air fryer.

    👩🏼‍🍳 Pro Tips

    • Use a meat thermometer to make sure the chicken's internal temperature is at least 165°F.
    • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Depending on the number of wings and the size of your air fryer, you may need to air fry the wings in a few batches.
    • If the wings are frozen in a larger clump, too big to fit in your air fryer, simply run them under cold water until you can break the clump in half.
    • If you want saucy chicken wings, you can toss them with the sauce once they're done cooking.
