This Christmas Whiskey Cocktail has the perfect blend of eggnog, alcohol, and coffee! So, this holiday season, keep the drinks flowing with this Skrewball cocktail and my other eggnog-based cocktail, a Bombardino!
When my son, Scott, turned 21, I thought it would be fun to get him a bottle of Skrewball peanut butter whiskey for his "first drink." Since he LOVES peanut butter, I thought he'd appreciate the taste.
Fast forward four years, we just celebrated his 25th birthday, and we still have the same bottle of Skrewball peanut butter whiskey sitting on a shelf! I definitely appreciate the flavor more than he does, but I'm not a whiskey drinker, I prefer huckleberry wine!
So, recently, when I was trying to create a nice holiday cocktail, I decided to make a Skrewball cocktail of some kind. I mixed peanut whiskey, eggnog, and coffee then topped it with whipped topping and some freshly grated nutmeg, and the result was absolutely divine!
๐ง Why This Recipe Works
- This recipe couldn't get any easier. Just pour 3 parts coffee, 3 parts eggnog, and 2 parts Skrewball whiskey over ice, stir, and enjoy!
- The proportions can be adjusted to suit your personal preference.
- If you have non-drinkers at your gathering, skip the cream and make them a coffee sweetened with eggnog instead. It's delicious!
๐ What You Need For This Recipe
๐ Ingredients & Substitutions
- Whiskey: Skrewball peanut butter whiskey. I would suspect rum would also work, but I haven't tried it... yet!
- Eggnog: Whole-fat eggnog if possible, this isn't the time to diet.
- Coffee: 3 ounces of strong black coffee.
- Dairy Whipped Topping: The whipped topping dresses up the cocktail nicely and looks impressive when sprinkled with nutmeg.
- Nutmeg: I insist on freshly grated nutmeg. It's 100x better than powdered nutmeg.
๐ธ How to Make This Recipe
Step 1: Add ice to your glass then pour cold coffee over it. Next, add eggnog and whiskey. Stir to combine, or mix in a cocktail shaker.

Recipe FAQs
A part is a relative measurement used to describe how much of each ingredient is added to a drink. For example, if you add 3 ounces of eggnog, 3 ounces of coffee, and 2 ounces of whiskey, you can say 3 parts eggnog, 3 parts coffee, and 2 parts whiskey. Parts also allow you to upscale the recipe by keeping the same proportions.
There are a lot of popular whiskey-based mixed drinks out there with an old fashioned cocktail, classic whiskey sour, and hot toddy being on top of the list!
Although hot chocolate and mulled wine are popular during the holidays, eggnog is by far the most popular Christmas drink. Often, the eggnog is served spiked with rum, similar to an old time drink known as "Tom and Jerry," which was served in a bowl similar to punch.
๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ Pro Tips
- If you don't like nutmeg, you can garnish with a cinnamon stick, star anise, dehydrated orange slice, or a rosemary sprig instead.
- If you don't have a "Christmasy" glass to serve your Christmas whiskey cocktail in, just serve it in a mason jar.
- If you want to make this cocktail in a bigger batch you can, just keep the same proportions (3 parts coffee, 3 parts eggnog, and 2 parts whiskey).
