This unique Cream Cheese Garlic Bread recipe is one to bookmark! The combination of herbs, garlic, butter, and cream cheese give this garlic bread it's delicious flavor and will have you reaching for another slice. Serve this garlic bread with my Extra Easy Lasagna recipe for a memorable meal!

    Why This Recipe Works

This Cream Cheese Garlic Bread recipe is easy to prepare and ready in right around 10 minutes. Who wants to spend longer than that on a side dish when you're making a more complicated main dish like lasagna, am I right?

My Cream Cheese Garlic Bread recipe has a few unexpected ingredients like cream cheese (surprise!) and mayonnaise. This mixture helps the herbs and garlic to adhere to the bread and form a crust of heavenly flavor. Trust me, you'll like it!

    What Goes Into This Recipe

    Recipe Ingredient Notes

    • Cream Cheese — Be sure to use full fat cream cheese instead of low fat. Kraft Philadelphia cream cheese is my favorite option.
    • Herbs — Use the herbs suggested, or include your favorite herbs instead.
    • Garlic — I highly recommend that you use fresh garlic instead of the kind that comes in jars. However, you can sprinkle garlic powder over the cream cheese spread (instead of fresh garlic) if you don't have fresh garlic.

    How to Make This Recipe

Step 1: Start by softening the cream cheese and butter in a bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Make sure to cover the bowl with a napkin to avoid splatter.

Step 2: Mix the softened butter and cream cheese to combine, then add mayo, parmesan cheese, and herbs. Use an immersion blender to thoroughly mix the ingredients, if you have one.

Step 3: Add crushed garlic and mix to combine.

Step 4: Slice French bread in half then cover with the cream cheese, butter, and herb spread.

Step 5: Heat Broiler for 5 minutes or so and broil the garlic bread until golden in color. This can take 2-3 minutes. Watch carefully to avoid burning it. Cool slightly before slicing the bread.

    Recipe Expert Tips

    • For a crispier texture, bake the garlic bread in a 350-degree F oven for 10 minutes before broiling it.
    • If you'd like, you can replace ½ of the butter with olive oil.
    • If you don't have all the spices in this recipe, use 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning instead of the basil, oregano, rosemary, and Herbs de Provence.
    • Try serving this cream cheese garlic bread with some Linguine with White Clam Sauce or your favorite soup instead of the same old pasta recipes.
    • If you want to serve the cream cheese garlic bread piping hot, slice it before broiling.
    • Broiling time will depend on how close the oven rack is to the broiler, and whether your oven has a low and high broiler setting. It's best to use the suggested broiling time as a guideline and to check the bread frequently until it's ready.
    • If you make this cream cheese garlic bread ahead of time, wrap each half separately, otherwise, the cheesy mixture will act like glue and fuse the 2 halves together making them impossible to separate... yes, I speak from experience. 😬
