Here is a quick and easy way to cook spaghetti squash. Air Fryer Spaghetti Squash takes less than 30 minutes to prepare. It's healthy, delicious, and a great gluten-free pasta substitute! Serve air-fried spaghetti squash sprinkled with parmesan cheese or indulge by smothering it with spaghetti sauce.

    🧐Why This Recipe Works

    • Air fryer spaghetti squash takes anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to prepare which is half the time it takes to bake in the oven.
    • Spaghetti squash is a healthy pasta alternative, especially for those who are not able to tolerate the gluten in pasta.
    • Spaghetti squash is filling and even fun to eat!

🛒What You Need For This Recipe

    🔖Recipe Ingredients And Substitutions

    • Spaghetti Squash: You will need a medium-sized spaghetti squash, either home-grown or from a grocery store.
    • Oil: Olive oil or avocado oil can be used to brush the inside of the squash before air frying it.
    • Seasoning: I kept the seasoning pretty basic (salt, black pepper, and garlic powder). Feel free to add any seasoning you'd like!
    • Cheese: You can sprinkle the spaghetti squash with parmesan cheese just before serving it.
    • Sauce: If you add spaghetti sauce, I recommend also adding mozzarella cheese! The sauce is optional but highly recommended!

🍝 How To Make This Recipe

STEP 1: Slice the ends off of the spaghetti squash using a sharp knife. Stand the spaghetti squash on one of the flat ends and carefully slice down the middle. Use a large spoon to scoop out the seeds.

STEP 3: Place the squash in a preheated air fryer and close the lid. Set the temperature to 350° F and set the timer for 20 minutes. When the time is up, test with a fork to see if there is any resistance. If so, cook a few minutes longer.

Pro Tip: If you want to brown the spaghetti squash a bit, turn up the air fryer's temperature to 400° and air fry spaghetti squash for a few more minutes.

STEP 4: Scrape the strands with a fork and serve topped with spaghetti sauce. For a vegetarian option, add a pat of butter, sprinkle with parmesan cheese, fluff the strands, and serve!

    🤷🏻‍♀️ FAQs

How long does it take to roast spaghetti squash in an air fryer?

The length of time it takes to roast spaghetti squash in an air fryer really depends on the temperature. For example, if you set the temperature to 350° F, it will take approximately 25 minutes, whereas if the temperature is set to 400° F, it can cook in as little as 10 minutes.

    Can you overcook spaghetti squash?

Yes, you can overcook spaghetti squash to the point that it becomes too mushy. You also run the risk of burning the squash if you overcook it. It's important to check the squash for doneness by pricking it with a fork towards the end of the cooking time to avoid overcooking it.

How long do you bake a spaghetti squash?

Baking an average-sized spaghetti squash in a 400° F oven generally takes around 40 minutes.

    👩🏼‍🍳 Pro Tips

    • Check for doneness by pricking the flesh with a fork. If there is no resistance and the fork can easily pierce the flesh, then it's ready.
    • Don't toss out the seeds, roast them instead. Check out my spicy pumpkin seeds post for some seasoning ideas!
