๐ What You Need To Make This Recipe
๐ Ingredients & Substitutions
- Chocolate: I used chocolate candy melts (aka melting wafers), but you can also use chocolate chips. Choose your favorite chocolate flavor including dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, and white chocolate. I recommend using both milk and white chocolate for the sake of variety, but you can stick with just one if you prefer.
- Oreos: I suggest using double-stuffed Oreos but you can use any kind.
- Accents: For toppings, I used sprinkles, marshmallows, mini M&M's, and candy corn. Feel free to try crushed nuts, toffee bits, or any other candy toppings.

๐ How To Make This Recipe
Step 1: Microwave your melting wafers following the package instructions, or for 1 minute and then an additional 30 seconds as needed. Stir them after each time until smooth.
Step 2: Scoop about 2 teaspoons worth of melted chocolate into each mold. Using a spoon or a small rubber spatula, spread the chocolate so that it covers the bottom and sides of the molds without any gaps. Once they are evenly coated, place the mold in the fridge for 5 minutes or until the chocolate sets.
Pro tip: You can line the bottoms and sides of some of the molds with a little white chocolate before adding the milk chocolate and use a cookie scribe to mix the two to create a marbled effect.
Step 3: Gently place one of your Oreo cookies at the center of each mold and then spoon chocolate to cover them.

Pro tip: I used the edge of a pie server to squeegee over the tops in order to smooth out the excess chocolate.
Step 4: Decorate the tops of the chocolate-covered Oreos with sprinkles and/or candy toppings, then allow them to chill in the refrigerator for one hour. Once chilled, gently push the chocolate-covered Oreos out of the molds.
Ta-da! Add the chocolate-covered Oreos on a serving platter and serve!

๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ Recipe FAQs
Chocolate-covered Oreos can last for up to three weeks in the fridge, and up to three months in the freezer, especially when kept in an airtight container.
Refrigerating your chocolate-covered Oreos will speed up the process of the chocolate setting, but they can also be left to set at room temperature.
Oreos can be kept in the freezer for up to three months, as long as they're packaged well. Some people actually think that Oreos taste better when they've been frozen, and I happen to agree!
You'll want to place the set Oreos on a wax paper or parchment paper-lined baking sheet and freeze them first before storing them in freezer bags or an air-tight container. This will ensure the Oreos maintain their freshness.
๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ณ Pro Tips
- If chocolate is too thick to spread easily you can mix in a small amount of coconut oil and microwave in a microwave-safe bowl for 20 to 30 seconds.
- You can make chocolate-covered Oreos for other holidays too, not just Halloween. Here is a list of other Oreo flavors. Use mint Oreos for Christmas or St Patrick's Day, lemon for Easter, and birthday cake-flavored Oreos for a kid's birthday party. Use different colored chocolate melts, food coloring, and sprinkles to tie it all together!
- I took the easy way out and decided to use sprinkles, however, you can drizzle the chocolate-covered Oreos with melted white chocolate chips or a contrasting color like orange chocolate melts.
