This Easy 3-ingredient Limoncello Spritz recipe is light, refreshing, and crisp. It's perfect for sipping poolside and is as simple as pouring Limoncello, Prosecco, and soda over ice. To make this cocktail fun and festive, toss in some colorful, reusable ice cubes.

    Why This Recipe Works

This Limoncello Spritz recipe only requires three ingredients. Start with some mouth-puckering Italian Limoncello. Use store-bought limoncello, or make your own using vodka or Everclear (if you want to knock your socks off), lemon peels, and simple syrup.

In keeping with our Italian theme, we'll add Prosecco next. If you've never had it, Prosecco is an Italian sparkling white wine that's light, fruity, and slightly sweeter than champagne.

The final ingredient you need to make a Limoncello Spritzer is Club Soda. If you prefer, use Seven-Up, Sprite, or any low-sugar soda alternative like La Croix Sparkling Water.

To garnish, add a sprig of mint, fresh lemon slice, or dehydrated orange slices. I always have a stash of dehydrated orange and lime slices. Not only do I use them to garnish my Limoncello Spritz, but I also add them to tea, water, soups, and stews.

What you Need to Make A Limoncello Spritz

    Ingredient Notes

    • Limoncello — Limoncello is an Italian liqueur that's made with infused lemon peels. It is the star of the show, so I don't have any substitutions. I usually make my own. Pallini Limoncello is excellent, but Caravella is also delicious. Store the limoncello in the freezer so that it's always ready to enjoy.
    • Prosecco — Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine. If needed, you can substitute with another white sparkling wine.
    • Soda — Club soda adds more bubbles without additional flavor or sweetness. However, if you prefer a sweeter drink, Sprite or Seven UP are great alternatives. For a lower-calorie drink, use sparkling water or La Croix.
    • Garnish — A sprig of mint, (or your favorite herb or edible flower), can be used as a garnish.

    Is Prosecco champagne or wine?

Wine Folly has an interesting post that points out the following differences between champagne and Prosecco:

    • Prosecco is a sparkling wine from Italy while Champagne is a sparkling wine from France.
    • Champagne takes longer to produce than Prosecco which accounts for champagne's pricier tag.
    • There are many other factors involved, which you can read about here.

What is the best way to drink limoncello?

The best way to drink limoncello is ICE COLD. Because of the high alcohol content, limoncello does not freeze. For this reason, limoncello is usually stored in the freezer.

Limoncello can also be enjoyed mixed with your favorite soda, juice, or lemonade.

    Does limoncello get you drunk?

Yes, limoncello will definitely get you drunk. Limoncello contains 28% alcohol by volume. This might be the reason why it's usually enjoyed in a small shot-sized serving.

    • Not everyone has the same preferences. Now that you know the main ingredients required to make a Limoncello Spritz, play around with the measurements to suit your personal taste.
    • For a sweeter drink add sprite or your favorite soda. If you don't like your drinks too sweet, use club soda instead.
    • If you need to seal the champagne bottle until needed next time, a bottle plug sealer comes in handy.
