๐ Ingredients & Substitutions
- Hot sauce: I recommend choosing a vinegar-based hot sauce like sambal oelek, tabasco, Frank's Red Hot, or Sriracha. Alternatively, if you have a different sauce you prefer, you may want to add ยฝ teaspoon of vinegar or lemon juice.
- Chili powder: I use gochugaru (Korean chili powder) but you can also use regular chili powder, red pepper flakes, or even jalapeno powder.
- Mayo & sour cream: I use both at a 1:1 ratio for the best texture and taste. You can swap for Greek yogurt or homemade yogurt as a high-protein alternative, if you wish.
- Half & half: Buttermilk is even better, if you have it. You can also use heavy cream. Omit if you want a thicker spicy ranch dip.
- Seasonings: Dried parsley, dried dill, onion powder, garlic powder. You can use pre-made ranch seasoning if you prefer.
- Optional: I like to finish it off with some diced kimchi, but this is optional. You may also want to add diced serrano or jalapeno peppers, chives, green onions, etc.

๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ Recipe FAQs
You can add spice to any store-bought ranch or ranch mix by adding hot sauce, red pepper flakes, chili powder, diced spicy peppers (such as jalapenos, serranos, and habaneros), diced kimchi, cayenne pepper, and jalapeno powder.
Fiesta ranch and spicy ranch are two distinctly different condiments. Ranch can be made spicy with a variety of ingredients such as hot sauce, peppers, and spices. Fiesta ranch, on the other hand, isn't particularly spicy and features southwest flavors and ingredients such as corn, black beans, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and bacon.
